Our Commitment to Child Safety
LOOSH is committed to providing and maintaining a child safe
environment where children’s safety and wellbeing is supported, and
children feel respected, valued and empowered to reach their full
potential.
LOOSH has zero tolerance of child abuse. We are committed to identifying risks early,
removing and reducing these risks. All allegations and safety concerns will be treated
seriously, and we will make sure children, families and educators know who to approach if
they feel unsafe or have any child safety concerns.
We are committed to ensuring that child safety and wellbeing is embedded in our
organisational culture, reflected in our policies and procedures, and understood and
practiced at all levels of our service. LOOSH is committed to implementing the 10 Child
LOOSH uses child safe recruitment processes that include a Working with Children Check
and other screening checks as appropriate. We ensure to induct all educators, so they
recognise their role in keeping children and young people safe, know how and when to
report any concerns, complaints or allegations of concerning conduct, including abuse,
neglect or grooming. LOOSH is committed to providing ongoing learning and development
opportunities for staff related to child safety, child protection and reporting obligations.
LOOSH will ensure that all children and young people, families, staff and volunteers are
provided with appropriate support if they are exposed to, or report, abuse, neglect or
grooming.
We are committed to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
children and responding to the needs of those from culturally and linguistically diverse
backgrounds, children with disabilities, children who identify as gender diverse and queer,
and other children experiencing trauma or vulnerability.
We are committed to regularly reviewing our child safe practices, and seeking input from
our children, families, staff, volunteers and community to inform our ongoing strategies
and keep our service a safe place for children and young people.
